Alex Reymundo: Co-Star of The Latin Kings Of Comedy

ALEX REYMUNDO
Co-Star of The Latin Kings Of Comedy

If you ask Alex Reymundo why he is a stand-up comic, the answer is really simple - for the chicks! Alex always knew he wanted to be a performer and he realized at an early age if you could entertain you would get the women. He wanted to be a musician like Elvis, but took the comedy route instead. Alex Reymundo is one of those comics that you know you will love. He walks on the stage with a bright smile and a personality that beams. Whether he tells his jokes in English or Spanish, he instantly grasps the audience and laughter begins.

Born in Acapuico, Alex Reymundo arrived in the United States and settled in Dallas at the age of two with his parents, four siblings, four dollars and a language barrier. These hurdles were the instruments that taught Alex that anything could be overcome with the combination of hard work and the right attitude. Alex carries these values to heart on every project he becomes a part of, and in turn creates a sense of comfort for those who surround him.

Growing up with a large family, Alex Reymundo was always performing. He and his siblings would do sketches for the rest of the family that were influenced by what they watched on TV. They re-enacted scenes from The Carol Burnett Show to Gilligan's Island. Alex Reymundo's first real stand-up gig was at the Funnybone Comedy Club in Arlington, Texas. Over the years, Alex has been influenced mainly by what he refers to as "almost every road comic you have never heard of," as well as George Carlin for his wonderful way with words, Paul Rodriguez because he always had something to say, and Howie Mandel for simply the silly side of comedy.

Success came quickly as Alex Reymundo began playing comedy clubs in the Midwest. In his first year of stand-up, Alex was a finalist in Univision's "International Star Search." Soon after, Alex was a finalist in the Vail National Comedy competition as well as the "Funniest Latino in America" contest. Alex arrived in Los Angeles and soon caught the attention of comedy legend Paul Rodriguez. Alex Reymundo began working with Paul on shows all around the country. Together, they embarked on five national comedy tours, performing in arenas to audiences ranging from two-thousand to fifteen thousand attendees. These tours sometimes included performers George Lopez and Cheech Marin. Eventually, this evolved into the "The Original Latin Kings of Comedy." "The Original Latin Kings of Comedy" was filmed for Showtime premiering on September 15th, 2003 and turned into one of the most successful comedy specials on the network. A DVD was released on October 7th of 2003 and in less than a year has sold nearly on million copies.

Alex Reymundo continued to play clubs around the country. In 2001, he wrote, produced and recorded his own comedy CD, "Stop Me When I Lie." Alex heightened his profile by appearing on comedy shows on HBO, Showtime, A&E, Comedy Central, Telemundo and Univision. Film credits include, "El Matador" and "The Movement." More recently, Alex has appeared on Fox Sports Net's "The Sport's List" and Country Music Television. He also performed on P Diddy's -"Bad Boy's of Comedy," a project that will air on Showtime in the near future.

Alex Reymundo being a bilingual performer has enabled him to work on projects for many corporations, associations and products. For Alex, success equals lots of hard work plus preparation and luck. "Everything can be accomplished with hard work and the right attitude"
