ANTHONY CLARK Comedian And Actor
Anthony Clark plays Todd Tucker, the new assistant minister at St. Stephen's whose lack of experience in life overshadows his good intentions and results in more chaos for Reverend Mike Weber in Touchstone Television's "Soul Man," the newest comedy from the creators of the long-running hit series, "Home Improvement."
Born April 4 in Lynchburg, Virginia, Anthony Clark moved to Boston to study acting at Emerson College where he was exposed to the same comedy traditions that have influenced Jay Leno, Norman Lear and Steven Wright. Anthony Clark's honest, blue-collar brand of humor, earnest manner, and innate ability to tap into the comedy of Main Street USA and its denizens, won him the "College Entertainer of the Year" award while at Emerson.
"I use the contrast between my city and country life backgrounds as the basis of my comic portrayals," explains Clark. "I allow the audience to find the humor in themselves and their idiosyncrasies, without talking down to them."
Most recently, Anthony Clark starred as Boyd Pritchett on the series "Boston Common." Other television credits include appearances on "The Late show with David Letterman," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," the 1995 "HBO Young Comedians Special," hosted by Gary Shandling and "The Stand Up Show" on the BBC. Clark has also guest-starred on the series "Ellen."
On Broadway, Anthony Clark joined Gary Sinise and Louis Smith in the Tony Award-winning production of "The Grapes of Wrath." He also appeared on the big screen in the films "Dogfight," "The Thing Called Love" and the box office smash "The Rock," starring Sean Connery.
Now residing in New York City, Anthony Clark is very happy to team up with Dan Aykroyd and Matt Williams on "Soul Man."
