BRAD UPTON
Since he first stepped on stage 15 years ago, Brad Upton has never missed a show in over 3100 performances! This Seattle veteran has headlined every comedy club from Anchorage to Miami. He has appeared on A&E's "An Evening at the Improv" and "Comedy On The Road," MTV's "Half-hour Comedy Hour", Showtime's ""Comedy Club Network" and Comedy Central. Brad is currently being considered for an appearance on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
Brad is very popular among corporate clients and has done shows for such companies as Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Compaq, BP Oil, Hertz, Safeway, Seattle Supersonics, National Hockey League, Exxon and Westinghouse. Brad had a small dramatic role in Hollywood Picture's "Prefontaine" where he shared the screen with young Hollywood hot shot actor Jared Leto in the climactic death scene.
This former fourth-grade teacher is also a regular guest on National Public Radio's "Rewind" program, a not-so-serious look back at the week's news events. Rewind is heard in many parts of the country and around the world on the Armed Forces Radio Network. Upton is a regular in Reno and Las Vegas and has opened for many music acts such as Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton and Pam Tillis.
In April of 1994, Brad and his wife Julie were blessed with their first child, a beautiful baby boy. The following day his wife was diagnosed with kidney cancer and given a 50% chance of survival. Within days he accepted a job as the Assistant Track and Field Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at the University of Washington in Seattle where he had been working as a volunteer the previous seven years. He then coached fulltime and did standup part-time. As a coach Brad was phenomenally successful, coaching seven school record holders and five All-Americans in the hurdle events. He made the University of Washington the best school in the nation for the women's 400-meter hurdles. Since 1997 he has been back to doing stand up fulltime. His wife recovered beautifully and they added a beautiful baby girl in December of 1996.
With his background in comedy, coaching and cancer he has also been developing a very strong message as a motivational speaker. His likability, ease on stage, experience and hilarious observations and writing skills, make him a hit with a wide variety of ages and audiences.
