Dr. Matt Iseman regularly entertaining medical professionals with the skills of a professional comedian and the experience of a medical doctor, he finds humor in an industry that too often forgets the importance of laughter.
Dr. Matt Iseman is an honors graduate of Princeton University and the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, he headed home to the University of Colorado for a residency in Internal Medicine. Now based out of Los Angeles, Dr. Matt Iseman is a licensed physician and a professional comedian who captivates audiences from all walks of life with his hilarious presentations that revolve around his real-life experiences as a physician.
Dr. Matt Iseman combines an energetic, charismatic stage presence with incisive material, he skewers topics from lunchtime conferences on morbidity and mortality to "pager duels" to malpractice woes. Always hilarious and ever respectful of the profession, he has performed for hospital meetings, medical conferences and pharmaceutical company events from coast to coast, reminding healthcare professionals that, while laughter may not cure diseases, it can make them a little less painful.
Dr. Matt Iseman is the host of "Sports Soup," an original series on the Versus channel that takes an irreverent look at the state of sports and the people who play and report on them. Dr. Iseman also appears as the GoTo Guy on The Style Network's top show, "Clean House." He's hosted "Casino Night" and the National Vocabulary Championships on the Game Show Network, as well as "Scream Play" on E! Entertainment Television. Building on his improvisational background with The Groundlings in Los Angeles, Dr. Matt Iseman has appeared in numerous national commercials and television shows, including "NCIS," "Courting Alex," "The Drew Carey Show," and "Mad TV," as well as the daytime drama, "General Hospital." Recently he appeared once again on Fox News' "Red Eye."
After Dr. Matt Iseman was selected as one of only ten comedians in the nation to perform at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, he decided to take his comedy around the world. Following an overwhelming response to two sold-out USO shows at Kunsan Air Force Base in Kunsan, Korea, he was invited to headline a tour throughout Europe in March 2003, hitting 15 bases in 18 days. Dr. Matt Iseman has since returned overseas to entertain troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, and Hungary, and he continues to headline major comedy clubs across the United States.
FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS:
Physician, Heal Thyself
As a fellow member of the healthcare community, I know all too well the challenges inherent in the medical field... challenges that contribute to the pressure of an already stressful environment. But everyone needs a little laughter in their lives, especially in a profession that too often forgets to laugh.
First, Do No Harm
Anyone who is a doctor, who knows a doctor or has even been to the doctor will relate to my comedy. I have a unique ability to poke fun at medicine while always maintaining a healthy respect for the "most noble profession."
Laughter is the Best Medicine
I originally became a doctor because I really believe that laughter is the best medicine. Now, I put that saying to the test every day and clinical studies have shown that less than one percent of my jokes are placebos!
If your audience has any involvement in the medical field, make an appointment to have me at your next conference, meeting, or event. I'll make sure that every audience member goes home with a healthy dose of my favorite medicine laughter!
PRESENTATIONS:
Your Prescription For Laughs Program Description
As the bottom line increasingly becomes the top priority, every employee in the healthcare industry has felt the added pressure in an already stressful field. With job descriptions changing from week to week and enough paperwork to fell a good-sized forest, there has never been a more stressful time to work in healthcare. Insurance payments are down, support staff is being cut, and job satisfaction is at an all-time low. In fact, the only thing that is up is stress. Be it the antiquated computer systems (or their unwieldy upgrades), the constant job cuts, or the seemingly constant "reviews", Dr. Iseman has seen it all. But, more importantly, he sees the humor in it. Showing how to use humor to combat stress, Dr. Iseman proves that laughter really is the best medicine.
