GEORGE LOPEZ Comedian & Actor
George Lopez is one of the premier comedic talents in the entertainment industry today. He is the co-creator, writer, producer and star of the ABC network and Warner Brothers Television produced sitcom, "George Lopez"-which airs Wednesday at 8:30 P.M. "George Lopez" is executive produced by Bruce Helford ("The Drew Carey Show," "Roseanne") and actress Sandra Bullock.
George Lopez, a multi-faceted talent who performs on stage, film and television, has earned kudos for his performance in the HBO Films drama, "Real Women Have Curves," which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to tremendous reviews-receiving the 2002 Audience Award. Previously, George Lopez was featured in the feature drama "Bread and Roses". The film, directed by British filmmaker Ken Loach and released by Lion's Gate, received critical acclaim after its premiere in the Cannes Film Festival. George Lopez also appeared in the Showtime film "Fidel" and the Disney comedy "Frank McKluskey, C.I." He also co-stars in the Paramount Pictures comedy concert film, "Latin Kings of Comedy."
George Lopez's numerous Television credits include appearances on "The Tonight Show," "Craig Kilborn", "Regis & Kelly", "Best Damn Sports Show", "Politically Incorrect," "The View," and "Resurrection Boulevard." George frequently hosts Univision's "Que Locos."
George Lopez also hosted major morning radio for Clear Channel Communications in Los Angeles. George Lopez was the first Latino to have headlined the keystone morning radio slot on an English-language station in LA-the nation's top radio market. George Lopez's third and newest CD is entitled "Team Letter" (Oglio Records/Warner Brothers). His last CD "Right Now Right Now" received great critical and public acclaim.
Maintaining an extremely active schedule as a stand-up comedian, George Lopez has sold out virtually every top comedy club in the nation and headlined concerts at such prestigious venues as the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, the Shoreline Amphitheater in San Francisco, the Majestic Theatre in Dallas and San Antonio, the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, and the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, CO. George Lopez is scheduled to headline major concert dates for the Diet Coke/Improv 40th Anniversary Tour.
A native of Los Angeles who grew up in San Fernando Valley's Mission Hills, George Lopez devotes much time to the community including being a spokesperson for high-profile charities and foundations like the LAPD's Stop the Violence program. George Lopez has received the National Hispanic Media Coalition Impact Award, the Manny Mota Foundation Community Spirit Award and was named Honorary Mayor of Los Angeles for his extensive fundraising efforts benefiting earthquake victims in El Salvador and Guatemala. George Lopez is always one to remember his roots and keep a strong political conscience.
