LONNIE SHORR
Lonnie Shorr is a contemporary observer of life, who uses his lightning - quick wit in a most beguiling manner. In less than a second he turns a smile into a laugh. Lonnie's disarming air, coupled with a hint of Southern drawl, make him able to present satirical and honest material within a framework of supposed innocence.
One of Shorr's greatest assets, is his ability to adapt a performance from a small, intimate room, to a Las Vegas showroom, to an arena, or outdoor stadium seating 30,000. This talent for reaching an audience was especially evident in a recent tour with Kenny Rogers, when the two friends played more than 200 cities together.
Aside from a list of credits that include every major showroom, theatre, and concert venue from Las Vegas to Atlantic City, Lonnie has been a regular on national television, with over 350 appearances, with over 100 appearances on the Merv Griffin Show alone. The list also includes Showtime, the Tonight Show, all major talk shows, specials, and sitcoms.
There is such a likeable quality about Lonnie Shorr, such a strong communication that he has with his audience, and such an innate intelligence and understanding of what makes people laugh, that once is simply not enough to see Lonnie Shorr. He has the freshness of material and talent that keep fans coming back to see him again and again.
The critics and fans agree, Lonnie Shorr is the type of entertainer who becomes a friend to strangers.
From all over the country, the critics and fans do agree! From the time he was a child in Zebulon, North Carolina, until he graduated from the University of Richmond with a degree in Political Science and History, Lonnie made all the other kids laugh in school. Deciding on a show business career, Lonnie utilized his background as a way of understanding the backbone of the "average American", while reaching for his ticklish spot. He describes his style of comedy as "visiting". But there is a little more to it than that.
He has a wit that strikes in a hundred unexpected different directions, depending upon what his running conversation with his audience turns up. Most of his act ranges from the most topical of material to his own observations of life around us... routines that have obviously been worked out and polished. However, one has the feeling that those routines are the result of some previous bits of spontaneity.
