MICHAEL DAVIS Theater World Award
Michael Davis didn’t know it at the time, but he was destined to become one of the first stars in a genre known as “New Vaudeville”. When Michael Davis graduated from high school, he went on to college... the “Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Clown College,” that is. After three years of traveling with the circus, Michael Davis went on to master his craft as the king of the San Francisco street performers. Merchants complained whenever Michael Davis performed; sales in their stores came to a halt as he mesmerized the crowds. Once discovered, he was thrust into the big time Broadway musical called Broadway Follies, such a flop it closed as soon as it opened. Yet before he had time to pack up his props, Michael Davis was snatched up by savvy producers to perform in the hit show Sugar Babies with Mickey Rooney and Anne Miller, winning a Theater World Award on the way. An “overnight” sensation, television shows clamored for him as a guest with six show stopping sets on Saturday Night Live, multiple killer performances on The Tonight Show, Late Night with David Letterman, his own HBO Special “The Life of the Party”-- the list goes on and on. A favorite of Presidents, Michael Davis has performed for the last three in the White House as well as heads of state, including the Queen of England and Gorbachev. Michael Davis is one of the most popular performers in the corporate market (over 75 shows for IBM !) Michael Davis is appropriate for all ages and tastes, and has truly universal appeal.
