NORE DAVIS
Nore Davis, born Norvell Prince Kenneth Davis was presented to Ken and Jacqueline Davis on April 10, 1983 in Yonkers, NY. Working as a police officer to clean up the streets of New York for his son's future, Ken taught Norvell the value of being strong and laughing your way through the tough times. Jacqueline, a 2nd Grade teacher in the Yonkers school district, taught her son the importance of education and love for all. Norvell clung to these teachings, inspiration he had to carry with him, because growing up, he spent as much time at home with his family as he did in the hospital. Diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia at birth, this funny man didn't have much to laugh about growing up. Combined with the divorce of his parents at the young age of 5, Norvell knew all too well what pain can do to a heart without laughter. Although both his parents continued to nurture him, an early life of blood transfusions and the pain of a single parent household, left Norvell unfulfilled.
The constant threats of death from Sickle Cell lead Norvell to exist in an empty life without fear, thrusting him into illegal underground street racing. The shear risk of death, thrill of victory, even the pursuit of police officers obsessed Norvell. Tickets, stolen cars, and numerous arrests consumed his teenage years. All that changed, when in a blink of an eye, during an illegal drag race on New York's West Side Highway, a life lived at triple digit speeds came to a crashing halt when Norvell collided with a car, sending he and his friend into the guardrail at 90mph. When Norvell emerged from the crash with only a few minor scratches, he realized that the empty, broken shell of a car, which once was his life's addiction, was nothing more than a time bomb that would someday destroy his life if he did not turn his back to this treacherous road.
Renewed with a new sense of purpose, Norvell finished high school and went on to college, graduating with a Bachelors of Art in Graphic Design from the Pratt Institute. During long nights of studying and weekends of relaxation, Norvell redeveloped the laughter on the inside of him that his father taught so many years ago. Finding wisdom from comedy greats such as Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby and Eddie Murphy, Norvell persevered through the trials of his life, evolving into a man. Feeding his appetite for laughter, Norvell looked to emulate the new emerging brand of comedians, like Dave Chappelle, Mitch Hedberg, and most notably, Chris Rock. Their stand up and television shows changed Norvell's life and in the summer of 2004 Nore was born.
The same energy and risk that Norvell faced in underground street racing is what attracted Nore to the underground comedy scene. "Telling jokes and sharing my life in front of people is like street racing. You can bring joy and happiness to a total stranger, or you can crash and burn and never be heard from again. That's what drives me!"
Nore, a new breed of comedian, delivers an energetic performance filled with witty quips, sharp punch lines, all done with an amazing stage presence. Both edgy and clean, Nore tells it like it is. Nore is a comedian for the masses, leaving no stone or topic unturned. From relationships to family, race and politics, he delivers a smash-mouth, charismatic performance night after night in the biggest comedy clubs in New York. With recurring shows at Caroline's On Broadway, Comic Strip Live, NY Comedy Club, HA Comedy Club, and Broadway Comedy Club, even a feature spot on MTV's hit show Yo Momma, Nore is always perfecting his act. His is a rising star to look out for.
"People may tell me I'm a clown, maybe so, but a comedian is just as good as a doctor. Never underestimate the true power in laughter. Laughter is like medicine and I devote my life to it!"
