PAUL REISER Actor And Comedian
With the foundation of a seasoned stand-up comedian and the diverse range of starring roles in hit movies as well as a popular television series, PAUL REISER has garnered a diverse following, becoming one of the nation's top comedic actors. Reiser's stature has been elevated by this starring in "Madd About You", Reiser and his co-star Helen Hunt, cope with everyday life in New York City as a young-newly-wed couple, recently becoming parents of a daughter. Danny Jacobson is the executive producer. Reiser is the producer. Reiser and Jacobson are the creators.
Reiser, co-starred in Neil Simon's "The Marrying Man," opposite Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger. "Diner," both "Beverly Hills Cop" pictures, and "Aliens" also featured Reiser in key roles. In every performance, Reiser's instinctive comedic and dramatic flair comes through.
Born and raised in New York City, Reiser showed an early inclination for comedy, spending his free time in high school catching George Carlin, Robert Klein, David Steinberg, and other top comics in Greenwich Village comedy clubs.
While in college at S.U.N.Y./Binghamton, Reiser majored in music (Piano, composition), and was active in theater productions, but it was during his summers, when he performed at local New York City comedy clubs such as Catch a Rising Star, the Improv, and the Comic Strip, that Reiser found his calling.
Upon graduating, Reiser was already a regular on the comedy circuit, but his big break came when he landed the role of Modell in "Diner." Reiser got the part when, as a lark, he accompanied a friend who was auditioning for the role. Unexpectedly, Paul was asked to read for director Barry Levinson, As the result, Resier won the part, and with that auspicious beginning, Reiser embarked on a busy career in film.
As he continued to perform in nightclubs across the country, Reiser was seen in both "Beverly Hills Cop" films as Jeffrey, Eddie Murphy's Detroit sidekick; in "Aliens," Reiser played sinister corporate cad, Burke, opposite Sigourney Weaver. And in last year's "Crazy People," Reiser starred opposite Dudley Moore as an advertising agency executive who aids his colleague, played by Moore.
