PHIL HUGHES
Unique Blend of Comedy, Ventriloquism & Audience Participation
Phil Hughes is a comedy ventriloquist who began a lifetime in entertainment at the tender age of six. After seeing a ventriloquist at a church, he begged his parents for a dummy for Christmas. His reluctant parents relented, and Santa presented Phil with a Danny O'Day and an LP called, “Jimmy Nelson's Instant Ventriloquism.” I'm sure in Phil Hughe's parents eyes and ears, the results were far from instant, as he spent hours in front of the record player practicing, over and over.
Thankfully for audiences Phil Hughes did practice. His show has entertained thousands all over the world. Phil embarked on a full-time career in entertainment in 1985. Since then, his show has taken him to all seven continents including over 70 countries.
Phil Hughes began his career performing for a company that booked school shows. From there Phil moved out on his own, also in schools, performing shows centered on reading, math and geography. Later, Phil moved into the adult market, staying out of clubs until he could perform a show that was funny, yet clean. He wanted to be sure his show was solid enough so he wouldn't feel the need to delve into rude material in order to get a cheap laugh. Phil Hughes did go on to perform in some comedy clubs, but was able to do so with a uniquely funny, non-offensive show.
This process served Phil Hughes, and most importantly his audience, well. His show is perfect for a corporate function. Phil Hughes had been performing on cruise ships since 1998, performing on Holland America, Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Orient Line, Silver Sea and others.
