STAN SELLERS
Stan Sellers has been called a clean and clever comedian. But don't let his suits and ties fool you. Don't allow his wholesome routines about marriage, kids and suburban family life paint you the wrong impression because this is the same Stan Sellers who was read the riot act one night by a club owner after performing for a college audience in Provo, Utah.
Although the son of a minister, it was Stan's irreverent reference to a particular religious figure that got him into trouble. "If Jesus is coming to L.A. he better bring some ID because we've got over five thousand Mexican guys that already go by that name." Certainly nothing that would require network censorship but folks in Provo are censored by a higher authority.
Born in Washington D.C., Stan Sellers obtained his start in comedy while attending the University of Maryland as a broadcast major. Since those early days Stan Sellers has headlined some of the top comedy clubs in the US and Canada. He has appeared with and/or opened for Jerry Seinfeld, Marsha Warfield, Tommy Chung and Elaine Boosler. TV Standup appearances include An Evening At The Improv, VH1 StandUp Spotlight, Comedy Express and BET's Comic View.
Some of Stan's many corporate comedy events include emceeing a charity function for national talk show host Larry Elder as well as the Kiwanis and Hostage Negotiators of California.
TV credits include Friends, The Drew Carey Show, Judging Amy, Malcom In The Middle, Just Shoot Me, The Parkers and two episodes of Seinfeld. Film credits include the indie award winning Scriptfellas and Dr. Dolittle with Eddie Murphy.
Stan Sellers can also be heard playing various characters on the radio soap opera "It's Your WorId," a feature of the nationally syndicated 'The Tom Joiner Morning Show."
Clean and clever may not score a lot of points with some audiences but it has enabled Stan Sellers to maintain a comedy career for over a decade. And who knows, he might get invited to Utah for a retum engagement. If, he can clean up his act.
