Kathy Griffin is best known as "Vicki", the sassy ultracool redhead on NBC's hit Series Suddenly Susan. Each week Griffin steals the scenes and reels in the laughs as Brook Shields neurotic co-worker. When did she find her funny bone?
Kathy Griffin began making people laugh at the Groundlings, where she performed for seven years. In 1994, she pursued her career as a stand-up comedian, which started with appearances at various Los Angeles venues. Kathy Griffin then went to create and star in "Hot Cup of Talk" an alternative stand-up show performed and the Groundlings Theater. The successful show featured such comics as Janeane Garofalo, Julie Sweeney, Margeret Cho, Dana Gould and Andy Dick among others. Most recently, Griffin completed her own "HBO 1/2 hr Comedy Special" and was a corespondent for HBO at the 1997 Aspen Comedy Festival.
In addition to being a cast member on the comedy sketch show "Saturday Night Special", Kathy Griffin's television credits include guest starring roles on the NBC series "Seinfeld", "Mad About You", "Caroline In The City", "ER", "Dream On", "Ellen" and "Ned and Stacy". Kathy Griffin has also appeared in the feature films "The Cable Guy", "Pulp Fiction" and 'Four Rooms" among others. Recently she was named one of LA Times "Faces To Watch in '97". Look for her this summer in her own one hour special for HBO.
Kathy Griffin currently lives in the Los Angeles area. She "Loves, Loves, Loves movies" and spends her spare time viewing as many as possible. Kathy Griffin also believes that the cinnamon roll stand, Cinnabon, is the finest restaurant in Los Angeles.
