MARTY PUTZ Bizarre And Unusual Comedy
Marty Putz (and yes that's his real name) is one of the world's hottest and most popular exponents of bizarre and unusual comedy. Taking the label "prop comic" to new heights, Marty Putz entertains his audiences with some of his "inventions". Items like the "chiropractic machine" (a device which stretches his head and neck several feet in the air), and the "rodent projectile unit" (a hand held cannon which propels a pet hamster through the air and into a waiting target). A giant inflatable "Elvis" suit, in one of it's many forms, has become his trademark.
Starting out in his hometown of Toronto, Canada, Marty Putz began his career in comedy playing small clubs. Putz's unique brand of humor caught on quickly, and soon he became one of the most requested comedians at clubs, colleges and major corporations throughout North America. Marty Putz delighted audiences for two consecutive years at the "Just For Laughs" International Comedy Festival in Montreal, where agents from the United States (talent, not Immigration) urged him to move down. Marty gladly complied, and after only a short time in the states, his career really took off.
Marty Putz has become a favorite headliner in comedy clubs and theaters across the U.S., and he performs over a 150 college dates a year. Putz's American television credits include appearances on FOX-TV's SUNDAY COMICS, NBC-TV's FUNNY PEOPLE. The Arts & Entertainment Network's COMEDY ON THE ROAD, and Showtime Cable's SUPER DAVE SHOW, as well as numerous guest appearances on FOX's COMIC STRIP LIVE.
Marty Putz has also been featured on British television with appearances on BBC's FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE, and most recently on a New Year's Eve special for Canton Television which also featured Paul McCartney. Following an appearance on Australian television's THE BIG GIG, Marty Putz headlined 3 months of sold out performances in Melbourne, and will be returning there for the Melbourne Comedy Festival later this year.
Closer to Home, Marty Putz was featured in a comedy home video produced by Kellogg's, and hosted by Paula Poundstone. The tape, a promotion for "Pop Tarts", features Marty Putz in a classic stand-up performance at the IMPROV. As well, Marty Putz was chosen as one of the headliners for the McDonald's Corporate Tour 96.
For right now, Marty Putz is clearly one act to keep an eye on. With increased television exposure and the continued success of his live dates, Putz's comedy is sure to stand-out in the 90's.
